This research culminated in their monumental volume, Hill’s contributions to the study of languages in the process of being eroded grammatically and functionally under oppressive conditions influenced younger scholars dedicated to the revitalization of such languages, particularly in the Americas. Mrs. Hill was an alumna of Sweet Briar College in Sweet Briar, Virginia and was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy in World War II.
