The lot is closed, but there's plenty of parking on Lindbergh Blvd just outside the entrance. no way to social distance, not many wearing masks.
I saw the white head and quickly was able to spot the white tail. The bigger bridges were in great condition, the smaller wood/wood composite bridges on the wooded side of the trail closest to the trailhead were not in the greatest condition. The kids liked the few areas of boardwalk. While walking you will see and hear many animals in the waters and trees that can be viewed while catching the breeze sitting on a bench or viewed from the many observation decks.After eight years in Philadelphia I've finally visited the Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum! Lots of wildlife, my husky had an encounter with a snake and two turtles! John Heinz National Wildlife is a great oasis to check out if your a nature lover like myself. Lots of birds. Small kid friendly.loved it. Trail shoes aren't necessary, but anything with a bit more cushioning or a rock plate would be nice for the bigger sharp rocks on the trail. Beautiful trail for sure! I found the beginning part of the hike very relaxing, but the second half when I was by the highway was not very relaxing. Everyone was wearing face masks today and gave you enough room to walk around. I did the loop around the lake two times on my hybrid bike. The refuge serves to protect the largest remaining freshwater tidal marsh in Pennsylvania which means in essence that the area is more or less a swamp.Have come here dozens and dozens of times since it opened..Trails are well marked. This was a cold, rainy, pre-Corona day. This is my first time doing the full loop (and I accidentally recorded some of my bike ride home too). I took my kids to the park. It is a flat, mostly groomed dirt trial. She prepared me so I didn't really have my hopes up. This is also an great place for fishing. Almost everyone had masks, which was nice.
